A program that teaches you how to invest in a halal way from scratch and make money in your sleep

So you want to invest in a halal way?

I get it. You keep hearing about how you need to invest in the stock market. That it’s not good to keep your money in the bank.

You really want to - but you’re not sure how to do it, what the benefits are, and what the terminology means.

And - you have some doubts. Have you ever had these thoughts?

  • That investing is an activity only for the rich and it’s not accessible to the average person
  • That halal investing is really complicated and hard
  • That investing is risky and leads to loss of money
  • That it’s not something for you as a woman
  • That you need a lot to invest
  • That investing in gold or real estate might be better
  • That you can’t invest while you have debt

Let’s bust these myths, shall we?

Myth #1:

You Should Save Instead of Invest

Investing in the stock market will grow  your money much more than saving and piling money in the money. In fact, you will lose money to inflation year by year if you keep it in the bank

Here’s an example of investing versus saving $1,000 a month for 10 years (Source: Investor.gov). As you can see, by investing, you could have $50,000 more in 10 years than by saving, without working harder

Myth #2:

Halal Investing is Really Hard and Complicated

At its core, halal investing is making sure that Muslims are investing in companies that are aligned with the shariah (no alcohol factories or financial banks over here).

Alhamdillah, in recent years, there's been some Muslim brothers/sisters who have put together halal index funds for Muslims to invest in, and companies like Zoya, Islamicaly, Wahed, Manzil and, others literally TELL you which investment is halal or haram - meaning a lot of the work has been done for you.

It has become super accessible for the average Muslim to open an investment account and start investing with as little as $20

Myth #3:

Investing Leads to Loss of Money

Let’s get something clear - all investing comes with risk. There’s no free lunch (in fact, for an investment to be halal Islamcially, it has to contain an element of risk). There are a lot of investment strategies. Some are great, some suck. Some lead to greater loss of money than others.

The investment strategy I teach is called the Index Fund Investing method. It is the one used by the top 5th richest person in the world, billionaire Warren Buffet. It’s a strategy that allows you to invest in hundreds of companies at the same time, so that you’re maximizing your gains and minimizing your losses - aka not putting all your eggs in one basket.

Also - this strategy is one focused on long-term investing. Investing for the long-term will yield you the best results in the stock market. We don’t mess with scammy get-rich-quick schemes here.

Myth #4:

Investing in Gold or Real Estate is Better

Gold and real estate are both great investments. They both have a place in your portfolio, but they don’t compensate for the stock market

Gold is really great to protect your cash against inflation but it’s not as great as an investment though if you’re trying to increase your money. It’s not an “income-producing asset”, the way stocks are. If you’re gonna have a bunch of cash, consider converting that cash to gold so you can maintain the value of that money.

Real Estate is also great - but is not as accessible as the stock market. You need more cash to get into real estate.

Here’s a trick: You can invest in the stock market to get to your real estate goals faster instead of waiting to save and pile up the cash.

Myth #5:

You shouldn't invest while you have debt

The biggest asset with investing is TIME. Not how much you put in. The longer you’re invested, the more money you make. So you should still be investing even if you have student loans, for example, even if you can’t invest that much while paying off debt.

Sound to good to be true?  You don’t have to take my word for it.

Salaams! I’m Malak

I’m a daughter, a sister, Californian, extroverted introvert, book lover, traveler, Syrian-American, proud Muslimah, reality TV watcher…and Financial and Business coach who helps Muslim women grow their coaching businesses to 6 figures & invest in the stock market for passive income so they can become millionaires

Since 2021…I’ve helped over over 400 women manage their finances, invest in the stock market, and/or start their businesses

I’ve been trained as a financial coach, have successfully been managing my money for over 8 years, have over $20,000 invested into the stock market, and have built a 6 -figure coaching business.

I don't come from a family of investors. I don't come from wealth. My parents are immigrants. Came to the US from Syria in 2004. No one taught them anything about stocks, and they never invested themselves. They always believed it was something only the rich did.

Furthermore, as an Arab Muslim woman, I wasn't really encouraged to seek financial independence growing up. Of course, I was encouraged to get an education because that's valued in my culture, but no messages about building wealth, making money, pursuing my wildest dreams, starting a business etc. The assumption was that I'd get married after college and my husband would take care of those things. I didn't need to worry about it.

I remember hearing about stocks and investing growing up and thinking (1) that's something relegated to the rich, so it's not for me and (2) as a woman, it wasn't for me. So I disassociated from it for a long time. I also didn't understand the jargon/terminology, so I also feared it. It seemed complicated.

Alhamdillah my last year in high school, I took an elective financial literacy class that taught me about budgeting and investing, and that class changed my life. Around that time, I also became more aware of the reality of Muslim women in the West by participating more in the community and talking to older women. Here's what I learned

  1. Investment jargon is not that bad or confusing once it's broken down
  2. Muslim women are getting divorced, becoming widowed, or not getting married at all - I can't have a man be my financial plan, and I needed to take care of myself financially
  3. Investing in accessible and easier than it's ever been
  4. Time in the stock market is the most important thing - so the earlier I start, the better

I was broke in college and my first year after graduating because I had a low-paying fellowship. When I got my first "real job" post college, I started investing consistently, now up to $20K in the stock market.

AKA, investing wasn't that bad. I just needed to learn. Knowledge is power. Put yourself in spaces where you learn

The best part? I now teach this knowledge to other women to empower them.
